This huge piece entitled Flight of the Wind was in the making over a 3–year period ending in 1982. Originally requested by a lawyer from New York, there eventually arose a dispute between the client and the artist, allowing this magnificent piece to remain in the desert area near Taos, New Mexico, where it reminds the artist of leaves swirled into the air by dust devils as it forms a natural drop against the distant mountain background. The welder was Lupe Romero, and the piece is eventually destined to go to the University of New Mexico at their new branch location in Taos.
